Bridge Building

Command Ops: Battles From The Bulge takes the highly acclaimed Airborne Assault engine back to the West Front for the crucial engagements during the Ardennes Offensive. Test your command skills in the fiery crucible of Airborne Assault’s “pausable continuous time” uber-realistic game engine. It's up to you to develop the strategy, issue the orders, set the pace, and try to win the laurels of victory in the cold, shadowy Ardennes.
Command Ops: Highway to the Reich brings us to the setting of one of the most epic and controversial battles of World War II: Operation Market-Garden, covering every major engagement along Hell’s Highway, from the surprise capture of Joe’s Bridge by the Irish Guards a week before the offensive to the final battles on “The Island” south of Arnhem.

Bridge Building

Post by BK6583 »

Haven't used this feature much. First, I assume you can't just build a bridge anywhere across a river - it has to be at a "crossing point"?

Second, in the scenario I'm playing I have two US engineer companies each with bridging of "437". I ordered them both to build a bridge at a crossing point and a bridge has been built. It says however that it's a "Light Road Bridge". The two engineer units are now defending. Do I have to order them to construct a bridge again at the same point to get it up to a "Medium Road Bridge"? The tools menu also indicates that motorized can cross - didn't know they could do that across a "Light Road Bridge". Can they in this instance?

Bridges have to be at a crossing point. Light Road bridge is enough for any unit to cross, just more movement cost than heavy road bridge.

Had there been a heavy bridge at the start of the scenario, and it was blown, you would have had to rebuild a heavy bridge to get any 'secure crossing' VP's for it. This would require successive construct orders until the heavy bridge is built.
