Ship Art requests by Crazy Buck

Post by Buck Beach »

I am rather anal about small things that matter not to this game. I frequently run across merchant type ships for which we have no art for or have minor tweaks. If there are those of you artists that have time on your hands (yeah right in these times), I would like to post requests from time to time for those who care or just have fun doing things like this.

My first item is for the N3-S ships. Our game shows these as Anside0415, however they probably should be more like the Anside0414 with minor tweaks. This applies to standard game as well as DaBabes.

Here is where a drawing of the Maritime Design can be found: http://drawings.usmaritimecommission.de ... _types.htm

And here is an actual old photo:

I hope the photo comes through. As I said there is not a hell of a lot of difference from the AnSide0414, but the stack and the masts are in difference locations and the rear gun appears to be in a tub.

I can already hear the "Jesus Christe" (bad spanish attempt) shouts and I know they're a gazillion different ship configurations, but, if anyone cares to, please do.

Believe me if I had the skills or think I could learn the Paint program well enough I would do it (and others) my self.

Any good?

It is, in fact, a .bmp file. I just added the .jpg suffix to be able to upload it.

You forgot the black band around the stack and the chicken coop on the fan tail...... j/k. I am more than a little envious of those that can make these ships!!

Thank you very much. I am with oldman45 envying your abilities, your terrific.

Does anybody who participates in the name that ship thread (or anyone else for that matter),know what class of ship(s) the Anside0415 should be assigned to?

0415 is a Maritime Commission type N3-M-A1 (Enceladus Class) coastal AK, also called a Jeep. Calling it an N3-S Jeep was typo, should be N3-M Jeep.

It seems that the ships in the Ship file are N3-S-A2. Oh, well.

Thanks John but questions beget questions (sorry). What is the AnSide0494 that is assigned to the Enceladus Class, just another version of the N3-M-A1?

0494 is a tanker and is assigned only to 3 tanker classes; TAN Aux AO (0783, 0784), Union Coastal TK (2590, 2608), and the Sov MT Tanker (2919).

Yeah, the N3 Ships are a bit hosed. I would keep 2416 just as is, but rename it N3-M Jeep. I'm keeping it that way because I'm doing the port maintenance conversion for my personal mod, and want to keep it as is.

Change the Class of Ships 12512 - 12539 to Class 2514 (the final upgrade for the Lake type available in 1943). Lake type looks darn near like an N3-S-A2, and the specs are near identical.

Thanks for the quick come back. I'll do some swapping around but keeping the Local Yokel version of the N3-S-A2 he did at my request. I like it albeit the differences between the Lake and it are only slight. And, it is only an Art thing having nothing to do with the stats. I can assign it another file number.

Hey what is this "port maintenance conversion" of which you speak? Care to share a secret?

Bitmap spaces after 0605 are wide open.

Jersy-Penn Shipbuilding built 14 N3-Ms. 2 went to UK, and 9 of the remaining 12 were transfered to USAT and turned into 'Port Rehab" vessels. There's no functionality for this activity in game, so I pair the ships with a special Eng LCU and use them for Port Repair. Most were used in ETO, but some would have made it out to the Pac for use in very late war ops; DEI recapture, Downfall, etc..
