I cannot log into Multiplayer - HELP

A few days ago (on 14 March) I was unable to log into Multiplayer - although on the same day I was able to and indeed for weeks beforehand. I have now reinstalled the game (and registered), but still cannot logon to the server - all I get is 'authorization failed'.

You should not have had to register again if you were already registered - the game would have known that your serial and username matched up already. Have you somehow changed serials?

Other than that I would check you are using the same username that your serial is registered to.

Hi Pip - just replied to your external email. No I have not changed the serial and I have continued to use the same user name 'gilles123' and password. I doubt that there is any connection - but my login failed to work after support had deleted an mp game.

Hi Pip - sorry, I got confused re external email as I ticked the box for any forum replies to be notified to my email 'gillesvin@googlemail.com'.

Any thoughts as to what is causing the problem? I think the great strength of WITE is the multiplayer aspect - and I have a number of open games.

Tried to mp logon again today - still impossible.

Again - nothing on my mp account or pc config has changed.

I am also aware that other mp players will become frustrated that I am not playing!

What is the login you use for the Slitherine forum (and thus the game server).

Well, you do indeed seem to have a registered serial. Are you sure you are using the correct password? Can you log into the Slitherine forums with it?

Hi Pip - I log into the form as 'gillesvin2' and onto mp at 'gilles123' - certainly the first works (as you can see) and 'gilles123' used to work. I did try 'gillesvin2' on mp, but that did not work.

No - I mean, can you log into the Slitherine forum with your password for gilles123 - they are the same credentials, and will enable you to check whether the password you are entering is correct.

Hi Pip - no I cannot log into the forum with 'gilles123'. But, remember, up unitil the 14th I had no problems......? And trying to login into mp with 'gillesvin2' does not work either.

OK - you'll need to reset your password on the slitherine forum. I'm not sure why your password might have messed up - but you should be able to reset it via the site.

Hi Pip - no joy! Logged onto Slitherine as 'gilles123', no problem. BUT still cannot logon onto the WITE multiplayer game ie using my original mp password does not work, using my Slitherine forum passord does not work......

Hmmm -so you can log into the Slitherine forum fine? So it could be that somehow the game is being blocked from logging on (check that it is allowed past the firewall), or that it is mis-storing your login/password somehow. I'm not sure what file you would need to delete though - hopefully one of the devs can provide that info.

To be clear, you should be able to login using your Slitherine credentials as per the Slitherine forum, and there is a serial registered to your username (gilles123).

Hi Pip - just a thought..... when I put in an incorrect password against 'gilles123' the system informs me that it is incorrect. So I guess you are probably correct in thinking that the problem is somewhere on the mp server - although why a problem should have occured is beyond me.

Is it possible that somehow the 20 open game limit has been exceeded?

The file that contains your multiplayer info is wirServer.dat in the /dat/save directory. Open it to see your username, password, and registration number.

You show 19 games on the server at the moment. Are there any I can delete.

There is no 'wirServer.dat' in my new install - but the previous directories (which I renamed before the new install) does have that file - and the logon details are the ones that no longer work ie now and before my new install.

Please delete all games with no moves for >21 days.
