How to Survive First Winter as the Germans?

Post by inscrutible »

Hi All,
I'm playing my fourth game of first winter and am struggling, although improving. I'm using the towns and cities better to keep units less depleted and am manually setting units to Refit as needed, and Reserve when behind lines to assist with defense. I also pull back to my rail heads in some areas, where I have outstripped them, in order to improve refitting of front line units.
I still do have many double unit stacks in the front lines though which seem necessary given the russian CVs but arent sure whether I'm over-committing in the front line still.
Just wondering whether some of you battle hardened verterans can give me a few detailed tips as I'm running out of ideas and am finding I've had to concede significant ground by the end of Feb 42 (ie generally about 15 hexes depth along the entire front except around Leningrad where I have two unit stacks backed by Pz units in Reserve).

Or should I wait for the 1.04 patch?
