Gary Grigsby’s War in the East: The German-Soviet War 1941-1945 is a turn-based World War II strategy game stretching across the entire Eastern Front. Gamers can engage in an epic campaign, including division-sized battles with realistic and historical terrain, weather, orders of battle, logistics and combat results.

The critically and fan-acclaimed Eastern Front mega-game Gary Grigsby’s War in the East just got bigger and better with Gary Grigsby’s War in the East: Don to the Danube! This expansion to the award-winning War in the East comes with a wide array of later war scenarios ranging from short but intense 6 turn bouts like the Battle for Kharkov (1942) to immense 37-turn engagements taking place across multiple nations like Drama on the Danube (Summer 1944 – Spring 1945).

Build unit rule for SU

Post by sepanski »

Page 137 in the manual describes how to build divisions from brigads. Did the patch change those rules?

I'm in mars -42 and can still build Cavalry Corps (from Cav. divisions) and Guards (from Airbourne brigades) but cannot build Rifle divisions from brigads.

Any thoughts?

I think the rule about combining Sov brigades into divs was changed, so that you can't do it before May-June 1942.

Correct, that was changed in 1.03 Beta 3.
So Cavalry Corps from Dec '41, Airborne into Guards Rifle from March '42 (IIRC) and Rifle Corps from May '42.

So when can you build a rifle division from 2 or 3 brigades?  Also May '42?

Sorry, that was a little vaguely phrased

So to recap:
Cavalry Div -> Corps in 12/41
Airborne Div -> Guards Rifle Corps in 3/42
Tank Brigade -> Tank Corps in 4/42
Rifle Brigade -> Rifle Division in 5/42
Rifle Div/Rifle Brigade -> Rifle Corps in 6/42
Mech/motorized Brigade -> Mech. Corps in 9/42

Again, this is how I read it, so don't be surprised if one of the experts comes in and slaps me for being wrong. [;)]

Actually it is airborne brigades that can be built into a Guards Rifle div in 3/42
