Team Assault - Infantry Only

Post by junk2drive »

I see a lot of posts around asking about infantry battles. Here is a new game being distributed by Slitherine

http://www.teamassault-game.com/

It features squad level action with individual soldiers. Turn based not real time. I'm not familiar with this style of game but it looks interesting. There is a nice trailer and a beta video.

Doesn't look very good, would still like to see an updated version of 101st Airborne or a WWII version of Jagged Alliance.

Looks too much like TOW and TOW2 [&:]  or a lot of the current Russian type games....

They may add AFVs in the future.

I wonder how it works without hexes or squares, yet it is not wego or rt. Turn sequence is dynamic based on initiative. MP is online only because of this.

I don't get much of a buzz from it.  I am thinking of buying this...

Team Assault is one on my to watch list...being turn based it could be a winner...very interested...also the turn mechanics sound innovative and if they work how it's described really do sound groundbreaking...

Another that I hope will hit my buy list with CMBN (already pre ordered) and Red Orchestra 2...

Looks like a bad representation of Company of Heroes. Slitherine needs to get back to their ancients series and make a campaign game of Rome with the Spartan ai.

It looks kind of like G.I. Combat:

EYSA got polished, G.I. Combat didn't.

G.I. Combat: http://www.gamespot.com/pc/strategy/gicombat/index.html

EYSA(2nd Wave): http://www.gamespot.com/pc/strategy/eri ... Btitle%3B0

EYSA: http://www.gamespot.com/pc/strategy/squ ... eview.html

Quite a difference between G.I. Combat & EYSA or EYSA (2nd Wave)

If this game has a 1st person/bino view feature then I'm interested. Looking at the vid, I doubt it.

I hear it is multi player only at release, is this true? Single player campaigns will come with expansions? If this is true, count me out.[&:]

Wrong. Skirmish mode is single player.

There is a thread at wargamer where Laxen answers some questions over several posts
- Oh one last thing are you saying the first release is multi player only?
- I'm sorry if I wasn't clear about that. What I refer to as 'Skirmish' is actually games versus an AI. A single match on a single map, no campaign attached. So no: it will not ony be multiplayer in the core version of the game.
