How did you install the Supernova add-on?

Armada 2526 continues the great tradition of space opera games. You guide your race from its first interstellar journeys, until it becomes a mighty galactic empire. Along the way, you'll explore the galaxy, conduct research, diplomacy and trade, found new colonies, maneuver mighty star fleets, and fight epic battles.

How did you install the Supernova add-on?

Post by milkweg »

When I went to install Supernova it didn't see my GG version of Armada 2526 so I directed it to the Armada 2526 folder and had it install in that folder. But at the end of the install I read the readme and it says to do a side by side installation. So Supernova is supposed to be in its own folder and you end up with base game and Supernova as separate games? Supernova runs fine for me even though that is not how I installed it and the original Armada.exe is in the bin folder and the Supernova.exe is in the root folder. Would have been helpful if a readme said that before the install and not after.

Well the installer recommended it's own folder, so I made sure to do a separate folder.

Yes, Supernova installs into its own directory and creates its own shortcut. After that it finds the original Armada 2526.

I'm surprised it's working.

I suspect it's been done that way to ensure compatibility with versions of Armada sold by different distributors, which is to be applauded really.

This is the first expansion in my experience to be compatible with all the different digital distributors.  Kudos to Bob Smith!

When did it recommend its own folder? It defaulted to its own folder and that is why I thought it couldn't see my base Armada2526 install. It never said "we recommend you install to a separate folder". Anyway, I could easily reinstall both base game and Supernova but it is working fine the way I installed it so see no need to do that.

same here just installed it to the main Armada directory and it works fine. I assumed that you would have to install it to Armada since it uses the original game to run. I must be old school.
