How to?

Post by Twotribes »

Ok How do I import a map to the Editor.

How do I import the units file that comes with ATG into the editor?

Can I import a Unit file from AT into the editor for ATG?

To import units:

Go to Settings ("Setng")

In the column with Shroud, FOW, LoadPass, EditPass, there should be an arrow button where you can set the masterfile. It is this masterfile that has many things pre-set. On the left-most column, there are buttons for only importing certain things from another masterfile.

For maps, you can load a picture of a map.  Go to editor, settings and then load overlay.

If you want to load an actual map, load that scenario and then edit from there.

From the editor, can one take a saved game and change the nation that one is playing?

Unfortunately you cannot open a saved game with the editor. You can only open a game with the editor at game start.
However it should be possible to create a game where with card play you can switch nations to AI control or from AI control to manual although I have to admit I have not tried that out yet.

actually since ATG you can set a scenario to loadable by editor and those scenarios with that setting you can later open in the editor. keep in mind however that the round # will reset to 0 if you do so.

kind regards,
Vic

Why don't you make random scenarios like that? Sometimes it would be interesting to retry a random scenario with another nation. For example, in my present AAR, the French have a location with many interesting strategical possibities, and after I finish this game, it would be fun to try the French.

If you do not have shrowd activated that is possible without any prior settings by going in to the editor and then prefs and then saving the game before it having been started.

similar questions about Editor

Post by mgaffn1 »

To follow up with TwoTribes and Henri's query:
1) if I have a favorite scenario from AT, and want to import that map & scenario into ATGold - with all the new graphics and resource hexes and new units, is that possible? Or do I have to rebuild my map from scratch to get all the new Gold features?
2) When I open the editor in ATGold, I get the old editor with the old AT map features, old graphics, and no resource hexes. How can I start from scratch and build my own map (and scenario) with all the new ATGold features?

Otherwise, playability of random games is much improved - great edition. kudos!

)The old scenario will use the new ATG graphics and the ATG GUI and the new AI but otherwise it will be just like the old one. Oil wells and such will NOT be added.

2) I don't know, but I presume that one could edit the scenario in the usual way, but I have not edited any myself so ...In any case, when you load a scenario, contrary to creating a random one, you do not have access to the edit button, and I don't even know how to open an existing scenario in the editor.[&:]

that should not be the case. which scenario is causing this behaviour with you?

Oops!![:o]

Sorry Vic, Bad memory I guess, or I hgad assumend that it was the same as saved games... [:'(]. I just tried opening an old scenario and the edit button is there after I choose the scenario. So I guess this means that one could add new features to the old scenarios?

This means that ATG could act as a campaign manager for another game (?)

if you do not mind the round being reset to 0 i guess it can.. a work around here could be to set the date (which kept independent from the round number) manually every time you restart.

also all statistics will be reset if you start with round 0 again.
