Changeing map parameters

Post by torontorock »

Hola all. I am a new player who has recently purchased ATG and am really enjoying the game so far. I have begun to explore and learn the editor by following the simple scenario creation tutorial 101 as posted on this forum. I have started a simple map just to get used to the mechanics of the editor. I have noticed however that for alot of the values on the map there is no "grey box" next to the value that would allow me to click on it in order to change it. This had me stumped for awhile until I noticed an entry at the bottom of the Scenario creation tutorial 102 under "erratum", a mention of disableing the masterfile. I tried that and the "grey boxes" re-appeared, allowing me to change values. A couple of questions about this.

- Is it that simple? All I have to do to change values on any map I import or make is to disable the masterfile?

- Will disableing the masterfile screw anything up. For example, if I want to change just a couple of values or add just one thing, and keep everything else the same as a regular game, will disableing the masterfile screw anything else up?

Forgive me if my questions are dumb. I am new to this editor thing and will surely miss things that seem obviuos to those more skilled. Thx for any replies and have a good day :)

You must disable the masterfile to change certain values (for instance, to create new SFT´s). Disabling the masterfile by itself doesn´t create any bug, but there are lots of things you can change, and some of them could destroy your scenario. I suggest you to start with small changes and see how they work.
