noob questions

noob questions

I've just created a group with machine gunners and trains...they travel across the map efficiently..but how do I reorganize the group to lose the trains and explore the map on foot?

Create a new group (blank counter) in the same location and then transfer the trains to it.

Could you not just transfer the trains back to an HQ? Is it necessary to make a completely new unit?

The only elements that can be strategically transferred out of the unit they are in are units that are inside a HQ. Otherwise the whole unit (train plus combat element) have to be transferred. So if you want the train to go to one place and the combat element to stay there, you either have to move the combat element into another combat element in the same hex or create a new unit to receive it before you transfer the train by strategic transfer.
