Updates Fouling Up

Post by Jeffrey H. »

About 2 weeks ago I went to the main game panel, not the quickstart panel and I clicked on the check for updates thingy. I got a notice about there being an update available and I went ahead and applied it. It was 2.02b.

Yesterday, I got a notice that 2.03c was out and I should upgrade. I went to the main panelt and clicked the thingy and it said I had the latest update. Since the 2.03c link sent me to the members area anyway I couldn't understand why it wasn't updating from the main panel.

I got the file manually from the members area and applied the exe and now I'm on 2.03c. Just for kicks, I went to the main game panel and clicked the update thingy again and it said I had an out of date version and proceeded to download 2.02b. I canceled out of it but I thought I'd post the trouble here to let others know about the potential foul ups.

History began July 4th, 1776. Anything before that was a mistake.

Yeah, why the heck doesn't the auto-update find 2.03?

My guess: Version 2.03c is still beta and should not be notifying you that an upgrade is available until it is final.

I'm trying to install ATG on my laptop so I can play turns away from home. The file download from the members area says it 2.03c. I assumed that meant it was whole game since its 17mb and there was no other file to download. Anyway it downloaded and even seemed to install ok, except it dodn't appear in my start menu, and when I try to run it I get an 'unhandled exception error'. Also, the launcher doesn't seem to have downloaded or been installed. Any help? [&:]

hey casus I am pretty sure that 2.03c is just a patch try installing the full game first then apply that patch.

Good advice, but how? I can't see a link to download the game, only the update. It's registered and I'm logged in and all. Am I blind?

Login to the member area and go to the support centre and request them to reinstate your download.

I did this and have now downloaded the game

If you install a Beta Update the Updater on the Menu will not work properly until the next official update.  Until then it will see that you have a different version than the official version, and will try to install the older, non-Beta version.

Most games do not have the full build in the Members Club, as was mentioned, if you do not have a back up of the installer, you can request a new download from Support.
