Still having Problems with Orders

Post by Gerry4321 »

Hello:

Sorry but I don't understand what is wrong. I had given most of my infantry orders like Defend -- Hold Fire -- Best Shot. Now later I need to move some of them near the victory flags. But my order set is very limited (gold orders and Defend order). I am in the Orders Phase for sure; not Reaction Phase. And it has happened for a few turns.

Any help appreciated.

ALways look to the CO squad first. What are it's orders. You need to change that before the sub squad orders menu can change. Try some different CO orders then check a sub and see what changes.

BTW Defend>Move is limited to 20m (19) so if you see a gray line it isn't because it can't take the order, just can't do the distance.

Are you in a building? If you are unmount the building and you should get the full set of orders back.

Thank you both.

The CO is in all cases I am facing is in a building. They are limited in orders also. I think I have to give an unmount order for them first. But the thing is I don't want them to leave the building. The sub-unit is in the tree line and I need to pull them back.

Thanks,

You have to unmount the building to give the orders. Then if you want the HQ back in the building just remount him and that will cancel all orders to the HQ only.

Hello:

I unmounted building (CO) but the sub-unit is still limited to Gold and Defend orders. They are not suppressed/pinned??

Another CO is in a building and I cannot unmount. Is that because they are suppressed?

Thanks,

The HQ and the independent unit you want to move have to unmount the building. Then after you issue them orders the HQ can remount the building if you  like.

Here is what I think I need to do so please let me know if I understand. Only the CO is in a building.

Unmount CO and then give them a command, say Rush. Now the sub-unit has Rush available on it's menu so I give it an individual Rush command.

Now I remount the CO in building. If I now give them an order, will it override the Rush order for the sub-unit?

Thanks,

You will have to unmount the HQ from the building. Now whatever order you give the HQ will also be given to the subordinates.

I'm sorry that I didnt make that post clearer. Let me try again to explain it and clear it up a bit for you.

You can remove the order from the HQ by remounting him in the building and the subordinates will keep the order given to them.

If you don't remount the HQ and reissue it a different order then the subordinate gets the new order set as well.

A platoon can't have two different order sets at the same time. 1 squad can't be rushing while anther advances.

Good Hunting.

Couple of things you can do:

1. Leave the CO unit in the building and issue him an Engage --> Hold order. This is very much like the Defend Stay order. Then issue the subordinate squads their Engage --> Move orders to whereever you want them to go.

2. You could also dismount the CO unit, give the CO unit a Rush order, then tweak the subordinates squads Rush order to the desiered destination and then Remount the CO unit. But you would have to leave the CO unit in Rush order, which will prevent him from providing any cover fire during that phase, which is what I imagine you want him to do.

Thanks!
