Demo crash

Post by blackcloud6 »

Playing the demo this morning and during game turn 13, after plotting artillery, it crashed. I got a "This program is not responding,Windows will shut it down" error. I have the log file but this forum will not allow me to attach it.

I was able to resume the game from the autosave.

Use the orange post reply button and click the attach text. You should be able to attach it as is a txt file. Is it over 5mb?

It still won't allow a .log file to attach so I renamed it as a .txt.

Hi Blackcloud6,

What version of Windows are you running? Could you also post a DxDiag file for us please?

Does this error repeat if you plot artillery again after loading your latest save file?

I'm running Vista with the latest updates.

How do I get a DxDiag files?

After restarting the game, I plotted artillery and the game continued without problem.

How do I get a DxDiag files?

I just posted a new FAQ on that at the top of this forum.
After restarting the game, I plotted artillery and the game continued without problem.

Ok, great news in the sense that it was a transitory issue that won't prevent play, but it may be difficult for us to find the cause and fix it.

Did you change the in-game options at all before playing (in other words, did you turn on fatigue, breakdowns, etc.)?

Regards,

No, I was playing with the settings directed by the tutorial.

Hi Blackcloud6,

Your video and sound drivers are from 2008 and could definitely use an update, but other than that I see no issues.

What you most likely ran into was a rare bug of some kind within the game itself. I'd suggest updating your drivers and continuing to play to see if it reoccurs. We'll see if we can add any more info to the log file to help us figure out what might have caused this when you were plotting your artillery.
