Withdrawing Air Assets-yes or no?

Post by Burch »

I have been wondering whether or not to withdraw some of my B-17 squadrons. Given the very low replacement values (a good consequence for using them low level;) ) in 42. I don't know if they will return later or be replaced with squadrons of 24's for example. Does anyone have an opinion? I have not in any of my games withdrawn any air assets and was just wondering what the overall result would be.

Disbanded has no effect on the number of planes or pilots you get. It simple consolidates 2 squadrons into one. The big advantage is you can pick the squadron with the best leadership.
So instead of 2 6 plane squadrons one with a good leader and the other with a mediocore leader you get one 12 plane squadron with a good leader.

I also like cause it is one less unit I have to fiddle with :)

I only use withdrawal when one squadron has inexperienced pilots, and the other squadron has an excess. Happens to me a lot with P400 squadrons.

Unless you are very careful with your B17s I doubt you will ever reach a point where you can keep all of the squads you get anywhere close to full strenght with 7 replacements.
