protectorates

This sequel to the award-winning Crown of Glory takes Napoleonic Grand Strategy to a whole new level. This represents a complete overhaul of the original release, including countless improvements and innovations ranging from detailed Naval combat and brigade-level Land combat to an improved AI, unit upgrades, a more detailed Strategic Map and a new simplified Economy option. More historical AND more fun than the original!

can someone tell me what criteria countries use when asking a nation for protection? it certainly isnt attitude or strength(at least where the player is concerned)

You need;
a) Good standings with the minor
b) An army of 40k+ men within 4 provinces of the minor in question.

You will not be chosen to be the protector if the major power that attacks the minor is an ally of yourself.

that may be the way it works in pbem but,based on the games ive played so far,it does not work that way when playing against the AI. neither attitude or troop location appears to have any effect. i have seen countries choose protectors that they hate when there have been 2-3 nations they like better. i have also seen them choose nations that have troops nowhere near them when other nations do.
