What can we do to get Developer support ? - Seems to have been resolved once again

Post by Wolfe1759 »

CCME is a game I really really want to play, it has hit a definite sweet spot with me in terms of level of complexity / realism vs playability and greatly appeals to my board gaming background. However as it stands at the moment, given the number of inconsistencies and what are becoming more apparent as basic game play bugs (reported in the main forum and the Tech Support forum) it seems to be more of a beta release in increasing need of patching (well beyond the current 1.01 public beta patch) before it is worth playing.

However all of this has been said before in one form or other on this forum already to no avail.

Has anyone any ideas how we can get some support for the game ?

Bombarding Erik with PMs ?

Posting on other more responsive Matrix game forums ?

Posting on the Wargamer forum ?

Bad form to reply to my own post however I just happened to click on the Top: Matrix Games Acquires ... pinned post above to find that CCME has been in development since 2006 so I suspect that the developers are long gone.

To quote the final post in the above thread "Ok a year has passed and no information here. Could someone please tell us what the status is?"

A bit more patience is all that is needed. The game is certainly still supported, though perhaps not with the frequency that we would all desire. Hang in there.

Hi Erik

Thanks for the reply. Any clues on what 'bit more patience' equates to in days and weeks?

When you say it's supported, can you at least give us a name for the space, err I mean face.
Just so we know who to politely address the questions to...

Michael Cooney of Boku Games is the developer for this release. Tim Coakley and the guy you know as Obsolete are the project and test coordinators.

Erik

One quick question - why haven't the developers been posting on the forum ?

I have to apologize for the lack of attention to Combat Command. Full time jobs are pulling Michael, Toby, and me away from the game.

We should have the 1st patch out shortly and we are collecting issues for a 2nd patch.

I do appreciate that you all are enjoying the game.

Tim

Yeah right! [8|]

How can you be collecting issues when none of you are involved with forum discussions? And how about answering some gameplay questions instead of collecting issues?

You guys are invisible to this dwindling community.

Thanks for eventually making some form of response.

Not in any way the level of support myself and probably most of the rest who are left on the forum have got used to expecting from a Matrix release.

What is going to be in the 1st patch and what issues have you identified for the 2nd patch. What are the ETAs on these patches?

We want to enjoy the game but with the issues it has got at the moment (Withdrawal for me being by far the biggest) we aren't as yet and I at least am now starting regret buying it.

Hi Tim

Thanks for the post. I can certainly understand full time jobs taking priority.

What would be good to understand is, if you are busy with other things, how things would progress. Does Matrix play a role in that by providing support resource? Or is down to as and when you can spend time on the game? I expect it's the latter. If that's the case do you think it's feasible that you'll be making any changes to the game or will it really just be a sticky plaster approach, as with the PBEM issue, where you only fix critical items that have broken the game? And with these I don't think there'll be many as the code has been around for a good while.

The main thing people want to know is if game play improvements are going to happen. I really like this game. The scale and level of complexity is exactly right, and I don't know of another game that appeals as much. What is frustrating is that I can't see how it'll be improved with the low level of support it currently has.

Cheers

Nice measured response PirateJock. You are a much calmer peson than I am.

I would not have been nearly as nice as you.

Of course I guess for what we paid for the game, and this isn't the developers full time gig. I suppose Matrix could have let us known about the lack of support, and then we could have decided whether we were willing to buy the game. [8|]

Sooooo,

Thanks for posting Mr. Coakley. I do appreciate your participation in helping to sort out some of the issues we are having with your game.

Was that good PJ? I'm trying to follow your lead.

I'm in accord with all comments - except Tim's. I mean really. One bit of communication to forum since game was released back in March? I appreciate small development team, other job, etc. For update rapidity. But not for simple communications with adults who have bought your product and allowed you to make some money in addition to that full time job. Not to answer numerous posted questions concerning features and perhaps bugs is just plain rude.

It's a shame you take that attitude as it takes but a few minutes to pop in and interact. Minimum of respect and customer service (we are customers???) you owe or you shouldn't be in business. Even more important if you can't provide quick updates. And if it is more love of what you do then business then even more I don't understand or appreciate your disregard.

I'm gonna go pop over to the AGEOD forums. Small development team, do updates to their older games on weekends as a second job of sorts I guess. Games are $20. Still updating after many years. Still on forums every day interacting with their customer base. Then I'll go over to some other Matrix game forums and get same.

Shame with such a great game Tim and co. can't maybe provide about 10% of that kind of business customer service and/or love of wargaming care for others. Why re-issue the game at all if this is it? I am not used to this with Matrix re-issues of older games. I will have to be more careful in the future as more standard Matrix excellence in my experience has me caught blind by this attitude.
