World War III - Rokondo vs. Scharfschütze

After the fateful shootout at Torgau at the Elbe river, relations between the Western Allies and the Soviet Union rapidly detoriated. Sweeping across the german countryside, both armies wrestled for control of the defeated nation, and ultimately, all of Europe. For more than three months, the intensity of the carnage has ever increased, Rumours of a new american secret weapon, more powerful than any means of destruction before, are told in the columns of tanks and infantry marching to battle. The soviet high command has declared this talk enemy disinformation, and harsh punishment awaits those in the Red Army spreading it. A new offensive has been ordered, to settle things once and for all, and somewhere in Central Europe, a soviet deep penetration force and an american combat group clash...

5k points meeting engagement, all on, C&C off, max. 20% arty, two airstrikes per side, 8/45
Map sports numerous, partially rough hills, many ridges, some wood, several small towns and villages.

The battle began with preparatory fires by american 155mm GMC SPA, soviet superheavy 160mm mortars and 152mm arty shelling suspected enemy assembly areas. In the far south, my mortar shells fell among massed enemy troops. Radio traffic indicates massive casualities (20+) and total confusion. Hell, I even dispersed a Ranger squad :p

The fight was start with heavy bombardment of the Soviet on our troops in the south, few was dead and communication was down.

The Red Army has engaged several enemy AA and AT guns brought onto a distant hill (some 2km), first with SP gun fire and then with our fearsome superheavy mortars (A 160mm mortar shell is only fractionally less powerfull than a BM-13 Katyusha rocket). That should scare those boys a bit.

The enemy had brought down a bridge in the central sector and has begun shelling others. They can delay, but never stop us. Soviet tankers to the front! Smash the enemy! None shall escape our rightfull wrath!:mad: :p

We are still waiting for the enemy tanks to show.
A couple of halftracks with Rangers, some 3" ATG´s and several 40mm and .50 Quad AA´s will be smashed in less than ten minutes. So lets hope the imperialists have provided some serious opposition like the vaunted M26 Pershing to make this worthwhile...

The Red Army confirms the loss of two ISU-122s heavy TD´s. The perpetrators will be held accountable for the damage done to the people´s property and be given the chance to repay the damage done in say 50 years of forced labour in Siberia. Northern Siberia, if I get my way

We introduced that epitome of soviet engineering, the IS-3 superheavy tank, named after our beloved leader Comrade Stalin himself, into the fight. With much luck, the yankee imperialists escape their due punishment as three shells miss and one fails to penetrate by the narrowest of margins.

The Red Thunder claps again and more superheavy mortar shells crash into the capitalists positions. The enemy tries counterbattery fire at suspected mortar positions, but the people´s 76.2mm artillery masters them in this aspect: In a true torrent of shells, one projectile tumbles into an open topped M12 GMC SP artillery carriage. The ensuing explosion might have been audible in Patton´s headquarters:D

We are forced to temporarily withdraw our IS-3´s to avoid being swamped by Halftrack-borne Rangers and Bazooka teams. We killed a few, though, just to show who is the Boss here.

We have shot up some Rangers, and redirected our artillery.The enemy has taken up their barrage again, though with less volume than before:D

American halftracks carrying Rangers are pushing ever onwards. But they have gone too far! Now they have met the steel defence of the Soviet Unions´ glorious Red Army. Tanks and infantry, fighting side by side, destroy the advancing enemy. The battlefield is now littered with burning halftracks and dead Rangers.

Had a 122mm AP from a IS-3 ricochet off a halftrack. My bad luck must now be used up for sure, and I can proceed to smash Rokondo´s forces...:rolleyes:

We saw Partisans in the back trying to take the VHEX but they will be destroy .

Most of the VHEX are in US Hands more 4 to finish this blody war > Go...Go...Go...

Well, my bad luck is still around it seems. The IS-3 missed an onrushing Pershing with a 30something % chance only to get nailed by a 17% return shot. The overwatching ISU-122s can´t hit a barn either, and take a torrent of 90mmshells when their opfire fails to hit anything. Those crucial hits when the enemy pops his head and dares them to shoot just aren´t coming:(

My partisans got their second M12 SPA this turn, making for a total of three taken out.

We have committed our reserve of T-44 and T-34 tanks to battle. A halftrack aflame, some Rangers scattered. Small steps to victory...

Confirm that the Partisans destroy my artillery.
Few red troops were killed & few of our troops were killed.
This turn was Draw.

Hard work for the US troops to clean up the Red Army from their holes.
Time to pay … The Red army will be sorry for the attack on the Europe land.

The Americans are truly on the attack now. My Sovs are fighting a last stand here, though casualities have been moderate so far I have very few things to show for my mighty ISU-122´s and the IS-3, and I won´t win by depleting Rokondo´s AP ammo.

We are fighting back with all we have, and that means... alot:D

In the north we destroy 3 tanks and kill few Red troops > Heavy Fighting in there.

In the Center We kill few Red Troops.

In the South the enemy destroy us 2 tanks & kill few troops with the artillery but we destroy him 1 Tank and kill more few troops.

In the back where the enemy lunch partisan’s attack we destroy one unit.


The Red army is retreat and we go and advance to kill more Red troops and to stop this invasion.
