playing scenario

Post by kevin tong »

I tried to edit a scenario on my new Panzer Command: Ostfront game and I saved the game but can't seem to find the saved scenario anywhere. Where exactly is it saved and how do I access/play it?

If you edit/create a scenario in the scenario editor, you gave it a name at the top and at the bottom of the left side panel. If you clicked the save button at the bottom, it would ask you for confirmation, followed by a success message.

If all of the above worked then your name battle will be listed in the Set Battle menu.

We need a bit more information. Did you use the scenario editor? If so, then there are TWO places where you should change the name:

The first place is at the top of the editor, maybe 2nd line down. This name is what you will see in the game when you select the scenario to play. If you don't change the name here, then you might see 2 scenarios with same name listed, one of them would be your edited scenario (hard to know which one without looking).

The second place is at the bottom, where you give the edited scenario a file name. Hopefully you gave it a different name from the original so as not to overwrite the original (although we can help you get that back easily enough).

In either case the the file is saved in the Data\Scenarios folder

Let me know if you still have trouble finding it.

EDIT; and as usual, i see junk2drive beat me to it and much more consisely I might add.

Thanks
Rick

I simply used the scenario title (kobrin) that was already provided for the scenario that I wanted to edit. I wanted to change the scenario permanently so I did not mind having the default scenario overwritten. However, I did not change the title at the end of the editing page. Is that my mistake?

Thanks,
KT

Also, I am having difficulties adding units to my order of battle. I selected the vehicle name from the dropdown list then typed it in the empty space below that and pressed the P- button to add it to my OOB but nothing happens. I think the instructions in the game manual could be a little more detailed and explicit as to how to go about editing the scenarios.

First, there must be enough points for another unit to be added. Next you select the unit to add. Then click the P button to place the unit on the map and click a spot on the friendly side of the map. You can then click and drag the carat to position the facing.

Thank you!!! Finally it works! on a different note, I am a big German armor buff and I just noticed that the icon and vehicle depicted for the Nashorn (Sd. Kfz. 164, SP 8.8 cm L/71) is actually depicted by the PzKw IIIJ (Sd. Kfz. 141, 5 cm L42). For me, this detracts greatly from the authenticity of the game - can this be corrected ASAP and a patch downloaded? Otherwise, the game seems very historically accurate and I thoroughly enjoy playing it.

It takes a long time to make 3D models and the team did not get to the Nashorn yet. The PZIII is substituted for any unit not yet modeled. It will not be ASAP, sorry.

In that case your edited scenario should have overwritten the stock scenario and you should be able to see it in the battle list. The name at the bottom is the file name and Scenario ID, the name at the top is the name that appears in the Scenario seclection list. On another note, that scenario is also used in the Barbaroso Historic Campaign, if you edit the names of any of the core forces you might run into a problem with that Campaign.

So will the Nashorn glitch ever be fixed? I would be very disappointed if it weren't since this is my favorite vehicle!

Thanks,

Kevin,

this isn't really a glitch, we just didn't have a model created for the Nashorn. Creating models for the game can be done by anyone with the knowledge of 3D modelling. There are actually a few vehicles that still point to the generick vehicle (Pz III).

At least one team member indicated he might work on a Nashorn model after he finishes some other models he's working on. So it's likely it will get incorporated at some point. But it's possible some other users will create one and upload it as a mod. The unit data is already in the game.

I know i would like to see someone create a Russian Lend Lease Half Track model some time as well.

Thanks
Rick
