Fred SpriteSheet?

Post by Ormand »

Hi Vic,
When loading the 64 graphics for edges, you're asked to load the Fred SpriteSheet. Exactly what is this? I would presume that they might be a set of black and white pngs that would act as a layer mask for the base terrain to create the edges??? Plus, I do see a set of b1.png, b2.png, etc., files in the graphics/at2 directory, but they appear to be just transparent, except for b1.png, which is identical to shaded hex. If this is the case, i.e., that they are a type of mask to generate the edges, can they be more than one hex, namely a separate edge for each of the graphic hexes one has for the terrain. This does seem to work in general. Namely, if I generate seven different hexes of the same terrain type, and then have seven different hexes in b1.png, they do get loaded. Although, there are some quirks in they way the multiple hexes get chosen. For example, sometimes the exact same hex will be chosen for an entire line in the map. If this is the case, it would seem to save me the trouble of having to learn python-fu.

Ok, maybe they are the 384x528 pngs in the directories for the terrains. Then, no salvation from python-fu.
