Roads disappear

When I add a pad map and then click Generate Tiles, all the roads I put in disappear. Am I missing something?

You need to add roads, railroads and rivers in Terrain Features layer, much like terrain is configured in Terrain layer. Then, when you invoke Generate Tiles command, the editor will place proper tiles for roads and rivers for you. So you don't need to draw them manually.
