Best PBEM Excuses for not Sending a Turn

Post by pws1225 »

Being 6 months into our PBEM game, by esteemed opponent (who shall remain anonymous because of his sensibilities on this matter) informed me yesterday that he was unable to send a turn because his yard happened to be unexpectedly full of cows. His yard was full of cows? That's utterly absurd. Imaginative, yes, but still absurd. No sane man would interrupt WITP-AE just because his yard was full of cows. And certainly not an ex-USN Surface Warfare Officer with a Ph.D. in 'Something or Other'. This was clearly an excuse on his part to gain some extra 'scheming time'.

But his ruse did make me wonder what other excuses have surfaced from other PBEM players to delay sending a turn along. Can anyone beat having a yard full of cows?

For most WiTP:AE veterans, this is as unlikely as cows in one's backyard. [:D]

Not here. I must confess that's a pretty good one there. I'm used to both giving and receiving the customary excuses: job, kid, spouse, family, travel issues. Haven't had any cow-themed ones. I'll have to work on a chicken-themed excuse too, I reckon...[:D]

I asked my wife and she says that it is highly unlikely that any woman would want to have sex with guys like us. " Way too deep into the dork forest." But preferable to reinactors, who acutally take it a bit deeper. So she says....[8|]

Not sure he's kidding with you. It's a lot easier to "shoo off" cows now than it is to shovel a yard full of "cow patties" tomorrow.

I agree that he was telling the truth. I've found the good doctor to be an honorable man. But in this case, truth is funnier than fiction.

As a Texan, cows in the yard is fairly common (ok, not at my house, but at my buddy's ranch it happens all the time). We actually had a herd of buffalo in the yards of our neighborhood once. And, before you laugh, this is a pretty durn nice neighborhood with 3,000 sq ft houses. We just had a buffalo ranch nearby with a fencing issue.

I recently had to use "crying baby" as an excuse to Cuttlefish. However, that one was, sadly, very real. Do NOT change to the cheaper formula at 2 months. You were all warned!
