Post by AW1Steve »

I've recently run into several on-line articles about using your BigAss TV with a laptop to make an UBER game console....Anyone done this? [&:][:)]

I've done it with my 46" HDTV.  It's beautiful to see so much of the AE map at one time, and still be able to read what's on the screen. [8D]

My old set died before I moved, and I really hate buying something that becomes obselete as soon as you get it, so I bought the biggest and most modern I could at the time. BTW, I think it might be 55". I need to remeasure. Not that it matters to me. I'm happy! [:D]

that's impressive. Unfortunately I purchased a new laptop a couple of months ago. A couple of cords is well within my budget though.

What's strange is that stock Witp comes on my 32 HDTV but Storm over the Pacifc doesn't.

Well, ok, mine isn't HD, but it still looks fine and I can see everything without squinting.

1920 x 1080 screen resolution.....just in a bigger size. My problem is that my old display cable is toast and I need to get a new one.

Most of modern TVs have standard monitor slot, you just put there cable, and can pin any PC. Wiring sound is somehow more complicated, but also doable.
I have permanently attached monitor cable in my TV, but the only game I have tried so far was MoO2 (and I think it have 800x600 resolution max).

The only problem, I can think of, is that the game have resolution set OVER maximum of HD, signal then get lost completely, and there is "no signal" sign on TV. Just reduce game resolution, and it should work fine.

Sorry if anyone has posted this...but it is glorious to hook it up to an HD TV... I just use a vga chord, nothing special... I do this when her royal highness is away of course...

Sound is easy - just use the headphone output and an adapter to convert it to 2 RCA plugs and away you go. That's what I do for an old laptop that we have hooked to the TV for Netflix.

Both this cord and the VGA ones should be available at places like Best Buy, Radio Shack, etc...

And now you have me thinking of running my turns on the big TV - not sure I can pry it away from my son though. And in a fight he (and his army of toy soldiers and action figures) always seem to beat me up...
