SPwaw crashes after intro movie

Post by rodcal »

A Couple of days ago I upgraded my audio driver and now Steel Panthers crashes to the initial screen after playing the intro movie. I have unistalled the new driver and Spwaw Lost Victories and Watchtower. I then reinstalled both Mega campaigns. Still no effect. any ideas would help.

thanks

Make sure the entire game has been deleted to included manually removing the MatrixGames\SPWAW directory, and then try a reinstall. Can you include some system spec's, available HD space, Operating System and DirectX version if known.

Before trying to run SPWAW disable as many background running programs as possible because your system resources is down to 57% which is terrible. The old code of SPWAW uses 100% CPU usage which can make it unstable when other things are running with it.

Am I understanding correctly that SPWAW was running fine before the driver updates. Just uninstalling drivers doesn't always remove all the files. Try turning off all sounds in SPWAW and see if it helps us isolate which driver is to blame. Try turning down hardware acceleration for both sound and video. You could try uninstalling both the soundcard and video card from windows via the device manager, restarting the computer and letting windows reassociate and install them again.
