Rangers

Just noticed that there is no upgrade (like Rifles II) for Rangers. Are they a dead end and I'm better off building Rifles II at that point?

Rangers have more levels. Research Rifle/SMG. Just like cavalry.

cool - prob won't make it this game...that stone age setting really puts a crimp in the whole upgrading thing lol
