Allied General?

Post by Misconduct »

Much as I enjoy the German side - I would be interested in an Allied Corps version of the game, Russian or American/brits.

In saying that, I'm enjoying the game so far, however the limited maps really is annoying as Panzer general was until a few mods were available.

It's a pain to make maps, I made maps for Panzer General as well as campaigns - biggest problem was to many maps - and you can have 5 star units coming out of Barbarossa.

Wonder if you can edit the experience so it can be gained slower so adding new maps doesn't give you super powers.

Side question - does anyone know if you can specifically give a unit special bonuses?
I rather have Artillery get +1 Attack then +1 movement.

Are you playing on Field Marshal? I have no five stars at all. The need to always reinforce really slows down experience. There is no automatic elite replace to 10 at the end of a scenario. So in my campaign (currently at Overlord, after a decisive Italy) my best unit is a Level Bomber with 4 stars.

You missed part of my comment, One of the problems Panzer General had with the Experience gathering and the long campaigns (mods that were added to increase the maps from the original game) was if you had to many Maps - you gathered to much experience early on.

One way to reduce the experience gain is to make a unit lose some experience when they upgrade is by changing the UpgradeExpPenalty parameter located in the gamerules.pzdat (in the Data directory), however that is only for when you upgrade to a unit in the same series.
I'm not sure what happens when you upgrade from a Pz III to a Pz IV for example. I don't see any parameter for that and I think I never got reduced experience when I upgraded units in game.

Unit bonusses are awarded randomly, I don't think you can edit the equipment.pzeqp to add bonusses (but of course you can change the basic stats to achieve the same results), it's only stored in the save games.

If you like playing the Allies, try Operation Zitadel as Russians.
