1.08.07 - finally, a solid version -

Post by Dancing Bear »

Hi all
A couple of us have been testing the 1.08.07 BETA and, cross our fingers, I think this could be an essentially bug free version of the game, at least with the major aspects of the game. It has been a long wait for this. I encourage everyone to download and start using it.

Not so fast. We started a new PBEM game and when it came time for France to do his setup, he found himself to be Portugal instead! I'm uploading the files to Mantis.

Did everyone do a clean proper install? I know I ran some pbem test with v1.08.06 and didn't see any issues like this. Marshall only made a minor correction for the latest .07 version. Will check later this evening but this sounds odd.

Alright, I did a clean reinstall for v1.08.07. Ran a pbem test with Great Britain as host and all others as client. All MPs including France set up OK. Offhand I'd say whatever glitch you've got is not the patch. Maybe a bad install or a bad pbem file transfer or something.

Can anyone else confirm a problem, or verify that you have v1.8.07 running ok for pbem? AFAIK Matrix is proceeding forward with developing a comprehensive standalone patch with this latest image (ie, no more updating to v1.06 and then v1.07, etc.)

We are only in February and already have seen a number of problems. I posted some of them to mantis. Waiting for Marshall to take a look and comment.

Marshall,

See the top 3 poss in the Tech support forum.

Mainly: 1) weird loaned fleet behavior, guerilla behavior that is contrary to the what is stated in the rules, and units in city suddenly showing up not in city.

Are these issues new to .07 OR just the result of your testing?
Thank you

Loaned fleet: not sure. Never had someone try to use a fleet they controlled but that was neutral to France to block the Channel and stop France from crossing.

Guerillas: again, not sure. We have never had anyone invade Spain proper. Guerillas used to be very hard to keep down without a concerted effort. Now they are (a) all stuck into one corp instead of being able to be placed as single factor units all over the place (one of Spain's only good features) and (b) that corp can be attacked directly in addition to getting killed during the anti-guerilla phase.

Units in city popping back out: Older issue. Sometimes when moved into the city but not under a seige the unit will just walk into the field.
