CSA VS USA

Post by skaifeman »

Hi.

This is from a 40 odd year old Englishman and probably a bit off topic. Like a lot of my generation I was brought up on the 'lost cause' theory - and I always tend to play as the CSA in ACW battles. As I've grown older and read more on the subject (mainly Sears) I've come to appreciate the heroism involved on both sides and the almost fanatical bravery exhibited by the Officer Corps (which I'd originally thought was a attribute mainly of the Victorian English).

Anyway I'm interested in what makes my fellow gamers chose their side in Forge of Freedom - is it a geographical bias or favouritism to a particutar reigment/general?

I feel as if this is probably still a hot topic in America (rightly or wrongly) so have to insist that I've the utmost admiration for both sides in the conflict (political considerations aside).

Mind you I also think that if Cornwallis had been charge in of the British Army in 1776 things would have turned out differently.

Salute to you all.

Play as the CSA basically due to being from Virginia and that's my home.  Like Lee my state comes first.

As a game, I like both sides.

If playing the south, I have a readymade excuse if I lose, and a victory is that much sweeter.

As the Union commander, I rejoice the right side triumphed, and my goal is to beat Grant's time to Appomattox.

CSA. Always more fun for me to play the losing side and try to do better.
