Lake Balaton

Post by ketsugami »

Is it actually possible to win the Lake Balaton scenario? I tried it a few times and couldn't even get close. I'm coming in with a pretty strong force (off a Decisive from Overlord) but you take a few steps forward and walk into a sea of Russian tanks. The best result I've gotten is to destroy most of three Russian tank armies and capture Budapest with minimal losses, but that took all sixteen turns by itself, and there's still three other well-defended objectives.

Unless you come in with an absolutely monstrous core force, I have a hard time imagining how one could win this mission in sixteen turns, let alone ten! If anyone has done it, I'd be interested to hear how.

Hrm, I see. At least it's historically accurate!

Although really the problem is the short time limit -- in 25 or 30 turns I could wipe the map clean, though admittedly using a remarkably ahistorical legion of Tiger 2s...
