Are the statistics (# of kills, KIA, MIA) of pilots based on their real life performance, or does the AI randomly pick pilots for kills and getting shot based on their game performance?

The pilots are rated in the game with an exp. level ... You can have a look at it with the Editor if you want ... Well known pilots of that time (ie : Saburo Sakai, ...) have often of course very good exp. level
