If only I could get my hands on a Beta copy... I would be in.... mutter mutter...

On second thoughts... do you need the original board game to use Vassal?

Vassals version is for the most part completely self-contained (of course without an AI opponent but thats a good thing [:'(] ) but having the game doesnt hurt. Vassal is nothing short of miraculous. [:D]

Nice Thread. Thx for sharing SLAAK.

Axis Fanboy Post of the Month started by who else......Diehl, all the stream of vulgarities about WitP and now AE, yet 10 years later, he's still trolling the WitP forums. Serious posters beware. I see too that he's still fobbing off a varient of his story about having "tried" it once only now instead of having "borrowed" it from a friend and allegedly playing a single AI game to early 42, its "I played around with it a little on a friend's computer" [8|] A Green Button was never more richly deserved. Hey Chez.....i see your still an "Axis Fanboi" too so stop complaining about Palembang! [;)]

At Matrix WITPAE. Apparently someone playing the allies figured out a way to blunt the Jap Fanboid juggernaut in 1942 despite all the limitations imposed on the Allies hand. To which a noted Axis Faboy [i.e. "Chez" [:)]] replied: But it is one that I will develop a house rule for in future games. The house rule may either prohibit its use or simply remove any impediment to the Japanese player blitzing Sumatra before the fall of Singapore.

That'd certainly explain "The Thread."

I've not tried to play it save for some introductory messing around with it on the computer of a friend who bought it when it first came out. The basic problems are so legion that at some level even the hideous level of axis fanboy fantasy fetishism evident in the product really doesn't matter. At the root level, who the hell wants to play a game where you have to tell every damb electronic pilot how high to fly his aircraft and the time scale is 1 day = 1 day? It's not what I think of as "fun."

Meaning no disrespect to those who play it. If it's their cup of coffee, good on 'em.

Ah, Nickledimus, my giblet-disabled, dwarvish, ankle-biting, bunch-backed Platyhelminthes: if you have such deep feelings in your heart why not haul your limpself over to the Drivethru where you won't have a bunch of mods to let you get away with your usual hit and run trolling before you start crying to have the thread locked?

By the way, I've never used any vulgarities about WitP. I have used vulgarities when dealing with you of a time, but you've earned 'em all.

You have express written permission to pass this extremely critical communique onto the HoggMutt venue if you would be so kind. [:D]

Now Slaak. You're the one doing Kanly with the Dog. Surely you can figure out how to infiltrate his palace on your own. [;)]

Edit.

You know what, Terminus. This whole back and forth thing just feels like we're going through the same old motions. I make a historical observation, you say something unpleasant, I smack you back.

It's getting kind of routine. So if you really want to hurl inventive insults, come on over to the Drivethru. And bring something poetic, or pseudo-shakespearean or something. Otherwise what's the point?

Do you play live with skype? I play this every week. We use ventrilo. Not sure I have time to play another game, but WiF is great. Go to the wifcon every year (and often eurowifcon too). Where are you located?
