Eastern Europe in Flames - GC 41-45 1.05 Beta - sj80 (Axis) vs bigbaba (Sovjets) - bigbaba welcome

Post by sj80 »

This is my second game against a human opponent. Bigbaba is a very experienced WITE player which has played much more multiplayer games. The game has processed to turn 11 now and I will soon add more turns to the AAR. But I will stay 2-3 turns behind because bigbaba will read (and hopefully comment) this thread.

His major targets in 1941 are evacuating all industry and saving the Red Army. So it is hard for me to inflict heavy losses to the Red Army. In the areas where he is expecting the major german assaults he is concentrating his forces. Unimportend areas are complete empty with no defending units. His concentrated defense strategy offers some nice flanking opportunities for my Panzer Corps and is making the game very interesting.

The first 3 turns were almost standard. Here is an overview of the end of Axis turn 4.

Thanks for the responses. Here is the update for turn 5. German advance at all fronts but I failed to create a large pocket around Smolensk.

Turn 8 was the most successful German turn, more than 35 Sovjet units could be encircled.

hi all,

i am sj80´s opponent and we are in turn 15 now. very intense game with a great axis opponent.

dont want to be a spoiler but the situation around leningrad and moscow is very bad for russians in turn 15.

my loses on the other hand are around 2.7 mio. and a lot of factories (tank and most armament) was evacuated. sj got however around 50-55 ARM so far.

i bag for mud and then the blizzard to do some payback to this nasty german opponent.:)

Hi bigbaba,

thanks for your comments. I really enjoy this game too. I think we both are playing on the same level and the game is very challenging for me as Axis.

Here is the update for Axis turn 9.

@Vorsteher: Schade, dass der Sowjet AAR nicht fortgesetzt wird. Danke für dein Interesse, es wird langsam spannend für Moskau.

@Pelton: Regarding to the discussion about 1.05 is a "wet dream for Axis player". My opinion is that the game is now very good balanced in 1941 for Leningrad and Moscow.
I think the Wehrmacht could have captured Leningrad in 1941, but this was the plan of OKW. The plan was to encircle Leningrad and starve out most inhabitants. It was planned to establish Russia as "Kornkammer" (granary) of the Reich. The German plan was simple and deadly ... starve 1/3 of Sovjet population to ensure that more corn can be delivered into the Reich.
The capture of Moscow in WITE depends mainly on how fast the Axis player can cross the northern Dnepr and capture Smolensk. If you are fast and you have the support of 4. PzGroup then Moscow is in real danger. Attacking and defending Moscow are now both challenging, this is pretty good I think.

Here is the update for turn 10.

@Vorsteher: Ich werde den AAR Thread verfolgen.

Here is the update for German Turn 11 (only some noted because the turn was not so much interesting) and German Turn 12. The Axis side started the battle of Moscow this week.

Soviet lsses are not low -almost 200K per turn which is an excellent result. In addition he's lost L+M manpower factories which will hurt him.

@Sillyflower: I hope that the lost of so many manpower centers will hurt him in the long way very much. I can only "pray" that his strategy with saving red army but losing manpower centers is the wrong way in 1941.

Here is a short update for turn 13 in Moscow area.

What is your armament totals?

You hit him very hard in manpower.

His loses are so so but with the lose of Moscow and his airplane factorys he is hurting badly.

As long as you have a good blizzard you should be able to finish him of basicly in 42 and have another offensive summer in 43.

Very good job and he had a few major screw ups of which you made him pay.

@Pelton: Thanks for your comments. I've noticed the following List of destroyed Armament Industry while capturing the cities:

*3 Arm Krivo Rog
*3 Arm Kramastrokaya
*3 Arm Mogilev
*4 Arm Minsk
*3 Arm Kalinin
*2 Arm Taganrog
*6 Arm Moscow
*18 Arm Stalino
*15 Arm Kharkov
*2 Arm Kerch
*3 Arm Rostov

*0-4 Arm Kremenchug ?
*3-5 Arm Bryansk + neighbor town ?

So I should have destroyed around 65 up to 71 Arm Industry points in 1941. But maybe Bigbabba can specify the number more excatly.
@Bigbabba: Is my calculation right?

i am down to 305 operating armament centers. some get repaird but it takes time.

good thing is that the tank production is excelent. 100 T- 34 and 54 KV 1 are on their way to the front each turn.

3 turns more and the russian bear will unleash its power.:)
