MEGA Random Game, (Allied Eyes Only)

Post by Jeffrey H. »

I've posted the start up stats over the opponents wanted forum. World size and # of regimes maxed out. 2 Humans. I had origianlly requested an ally but it seems as though the brave taker on this perhaps, 'forever game' is already doing a bit of sabre rattling. Hrrmmm.

The start up thread for your review is here:

tm.asp?m=2955235&mpage=1&key=?

After one turn of movement and production, here is my SITREP:

And here's my ally/opponent Bob, starting things off on a somewhat adversarial note:

Ok, here's a shot of the overall world map and the old hometown. I'm Japanese and I got kamikaze tech straight out of the gate, not sure what to do with it yet, I'll have to study up on that one. Also note that despite my effort to be located somewhere else than the bottom left corner, I got stuck there anyway. In the several of these type random games that I have played previously, the winner always seems to be on a large landmass near the center, oh well:

Seems to LB, nomatter what order the Human is in the sequence, it seems to dump him/her/it in the bottom left. I don't know where my ally Bob is, but I suspect he's off in one corner too.

Here's a end of turn 3 shot, not much new to report. Good resources but so far no cities, wil need to build factory for aircraft if I can't find a city soon:

Turn 5 SITREP; Land HO ! We've stubled across another city, just in time. This turn I upgraded one of my ore mines to level 2. I made a few transports in the last few turns for Ocean exploration. I have a sneaking feeling that my main city is on an isoalted sea coast, more on that later.

Various regimes have declared War on me right out of the gate, I suppose I'll find them sooner or later:

Yeah AI's always love you [;)] declaring war when they haven't even met you tsk tsk.
Anyways, an AAR with max map and regimes sounds like a lot of fun! [:D]
The idea though of helping each other defeat the AI's and *then* take on each other... I dunno, sooner or later there *will* be a backstabbing  so the question already arises who will backstab the other player first? [:D]
One other thing, I've noticed a red number in the ore production tab, do avoid that at all times because red means; things not produced, it's completely wasted, gone forever. You might as well change that to say supply or whatever for one turn, and change it back as soon as you have sufficient ore.

Well, the backstabbing won't be from me, but Bob has already let on with his intentions, so if it happens that'll be no big surprise. Thanks for the advice on the lost production, I'll fix that next round. I sure wish I'd get the turn, I'm in a hurry !

Bob accepted an alliance offer, as a result, we share recon:

Bob's corner of the universe, so far he's not met any NME regimes either. He's stuck on a smaller island and as a result he's sent out 3 fleets in search of stuff to grab before the stinking AI regimes get their grubby paws on it.

And Bob has only got one Ore mine... oh well it beats having no Ore mines at all. What I do in cases like this is build a few cargoship units, with the sole purpose of recon. So one cargoship per unit, and send them to all compass directions. The moment you see new land (mine mine all mine [:D]) assemble a new army group, maybe an engineer unit, a HQ and some Inf. Create a port on the coast with the engineers, and then send more and more units per Strategic Sea Transport to the new land. Especially Cavalry rules in the early middle stages of the game; fast, good recon and packs a punch. Meanwhile keep reconnoitering with your cargoships.
So yeah bottled up on an island is a slow start, but no less fun.

Agree with you on the Cavalry, good early game exploring unit that doesn't use oil. Zaratoughda had a new twist using trains that are given the HQ initially, separate them from the HQ and drive them out along roads. Good idea but in this case I unchecked roads.

It was a mercenary base and they choose to fight with me ! Hooray for the good guys. Here's my home base continent as of last turn, pretty rich in resources:

T8 SITREP: I've landed some engineers near the mercenary base to establish a port so I can expand and supply the enclave I've started there. I found another city, East and slightly North of my other find. That makes 3 cities and a crate I've found so far. The big problem for me right now is logistics, I need roads and transportation to link together what I have and continue expansion and exploration. Here's a sreen shot of the Eastern enclave:
