CEW Hangs Halfway Through the Game

This has happened twice. I'm playing against the AI in the campaign mode, and when the game gets really complicated (c1942) it just hangs. The AI makes its moves, but then I get the hourglass wait icon and the processor (I'm playing it on a MacBook Pro) runs and runs.

Is there any thing that I can do to salvage this game?
