3.1 oops

Post by BillBrown »

In obc41:
TF 15 needs to be changed to a transport mission instead of bombardment mission. hmmmm, bombardment by 2 APs and 8 AKs)
also, there is an AP unit in TF 9 that needs to be switched to TF 15.

Transports in a bombardment mission

Post by Chmee »

Hello,
I believe this is intentional to reflect the historical failure of the first attempt of the Wake Island invasion. If I'm not mistaken Japs even lost a destroyer after it got a 50kg bomb at its depth charge magazine. The coastal artillery also did a good job and even a movie has been produced in Hollywood those years to increase the falling morale.
Cheers; Chmee

If that's the case, then 3.1 is a VERY welcome change from 2.3 & 3.0. :)

considering that you can not put APs or AKs into a bombardment TF, I think this is an oops. Plus there is no other TF on its way to Wake.

I noticed that even when i changed the ships, the jap AI failed to take Wake on the first turn. and of course no other attack has ever occured.

BTW, beware playing Allies against the Japan AI with max help to japan. the AI can get quite frisky. I have always been somewhat blasie about the CBI for the first 18 - 24 months. no more!! 2nd guard div and another div showed up at trincomalee!! quite exciting for a time.
