PBEM AAR - Fall Gelb - Allies

Post by doomtrader »

This AAR is from my PBEM game against TomBombadil.
I’m playing as Allies, against his Panzers and Stukas.

TURN 1:

When I started my first turn I saw that the Luxembourg has been already captured by XXXXI Panzer Corps

Image

Also, the northern part of the front looks bad:

First thing I have done was reinforcing my three BEF motorized corps and withdrawing my Brtish Armors to build it up a little later.
I have also reinforced my British Tactical Bombers and Fighters stationed in France to full strength.

As France I have upgraded level of as many infantry units as possible.
Also reinforced couple of Fighters to prevent further bombing.
Most motorized units moved to second line.

The only two Dutch units that has left are guarding Amsterdam and Rotterdam. Groningen has been announced open city.

In Norway, Germans advanced at Narvik

Belgian forces are quite numerous, but pretty week if compared with German war machine.

TURN 2:

BEF units are moved around Lille, most probably this will be the part of the front secured by the British troops.

Image

Three convoys with a lot of supplies (together 47 Production Points) arrived from British Colonies, this allows to increase the armors from division to corps.

Belgian forces are preparing for defeated fights.
It is now important to harm Germans as much as possible.

TURN 3:

Brits are building up their forces in Africa. This is the best way to avoid stabbing at the back.

Image

I just take a look at the reports and see that those pesky Germans are attacking my fleets. What is worst, with success.

Due to the poor supply, the only French units that received reinforcements this turn, were those stationed in Norway.

Image

Looks like France has got another problem. Italians at the South are very active and concentrating at the border.

Norway forces are too weak to perform any action by themselves, so they are only build up, and reinforce only division.

The Dutch has lost Groningen and now defending only at the Channels in Amsterdam and Rotterdam.

Image

Whole Dutch fleet escapes.

Belgians, left by the all Allies forces, are preparing to desperate defense.

TURN 4:

British units in North Africa has been cut from all supplies, due to the destroying British Convoy to Alexandria, and all are now using local supply, which is decreasing effectiveness a lot.

Situation in Norway becomes much better. Some of the German units around Narvik has been destroyed.

Dutch hold on their positions, waiting for the final strike.

Belgians do the same.

TURN 5:

HMS Illustrious had been commissioned. This is a great support for BEF and BAFF. However the cost has caused the Production Points pool to fell below zero.
Image

British troops in Africa with supply lines again operative, are advancing towards Italian border.

Image

Probably this is not too much but should stop Italians for a while.

Also couple of units will be deployed and as soon as possible transported to France to support BEF.

Due to the unpleasant situation in Europe, The French are preparing to the worst and moving their units to the Italian border in Africa.
Last week shows that the French are not able to field any more divisions.

German divisions in northern Norway, were pushed back from Narvik.

Looks like even the mighty fortifications of The Maginot Lines are not able to hold the German Panzers.
