polymer question

Post by themetalcrow »

playing ROTS version 1508 still and just noticed something.

when you get a race whose native planet doesn't have polymer than it can hamper early game before you find some. im not saying this is a bug but is actually a pretty cool little detail. you might have tons of cash but with this game you still have to literally get the proper resources to build stuff. i love that little detail.

anyway if you don't have any sources of polymer but you've found some and are trying to build stations but don't have the polymer for them will they ever get built or do they just take way longer?

also, in this case where you have locations but no stations will mining ships get the resource and make them available to the various construction projects?

how exactly does a situation like this work in the game?

thanks garrett

Yes he mining ships will supply you.

No you need to make a station ressource design without polymer. It is possible.

so mining ships will take polymer directly to build sites or construction ships and not just space ports and colonies?

No the mining ships will mine it and deliver it to your main spaceport to transport it with your frighter to places of need. Since "new stations" - polymer or not mining - have a rather low priority you better design them without in a shortage.

so the mining ships go to space ports but then the frieghters deliver the resources to the constructors that are in the middle of building the station?

i looked into designing stations and when i choose "mining station" as role, some requirements are command center, commerce center, and cargo bay which all require polymer to build. take me thru the step-by-step on how to build a mining station without the need for polymer please.

Might have switched polymer with carbon fibre... Still just keep it to a minimum in a shortage.
