Which ships should be edited? (Graphics)

Post by Wasp »

I have edited ship class bmps. And I would like to hear from you which type of ship should be fixed up to make it look more realistic? Give me your ideas and you could see your choice of ship reworked. There are more that look odd but, so far I have my eyes on these ships. If you have any ideas on which ships should be updated, please let me know.

1. Atlanta class CLAA(Looks "fat")
2. Sims Class DD(Looks odd)
3. Kagero Class DD
4. Yubari Class CL

Right! I will do that, but how do I modify polls?

Since the Atlanta CLAA leads the poll 4-0-0-0 so far, I will watch for a day or so to see if the lead stands. If it does, I will start work on Atlanta class CLAA.

Tell me what you think about the modifications.:) Comments are always welcome.

USN DDs need it bad.

Farragut class: looks like a Mahan, needs a Farragut.
Porter class: looks like a Mahan as well, needs Porter.
Mahan class is good.
Bagley/Gridley class: uses a Mahan, needs Bagley.(way off considering the number of stacks)
Somers class: also uses a Mahan, need a Somers.(also way off)
Benham class: UV has what looks like a destroyer escort profile, needs a Benham.
Sims class: same as Benham, has a DE profile. Needs a Sims.
Benson class: at present, looks like a Bagley or Sims. Needs Benson (I believe a Benson or RN A-I class profile is used for Fletcher class in UV)
Bristol class: I think the profile is close, might be a Benson or RN A-I class.
Fletcher class: has what appears to be a Benson or RN A-I class profile. Needs a Fletcher.

The Farragut & the Mahan classes use the same graphic. (#0047)

I know, most of the USN DDs in UV use 0047. This is not correct. The 1500 ton USN destroyers were very unique by class and this is not modelled in UV. It would be great if someone were to correct these as this is not a priority for developers.

The question is how you would correct it? You would have to know how the graphic is being called, and replace the call for the Mahan (or Farragut, either one) with a call for a different (or entirely new) graphic. Like I said (in another thread) it would have been nice if each class would have had a unique graphic, and they could have just duplicated the Mahan/Farragut graphic and it thus would have been easy to modify later.

Might be a good time to suggest that for WitP.

Now I see what ya mean. I'm very weak on the application/technical side of things. I'll ask Marc if he has not already viewed these posts.
