Cannot retrofit research stations

In my current dw legends game with beta patch 1707, I have 4 research stations built early on that are still on the first version of the design but now the game has already automatically made 9 upgrade versions of thoses stations and it doesn't look like the game allows me to retrofit the stations already built.

It seems that I can retrofit anything in the game without trouble (ships and all player made bases) except for the 3 types of research stations, is there any way to do it?

Previously it was impossible to retrofit any bases which was not built at a colony.

Is this still the case?

If I'm not mistaken, you can't retrofit Gas Mining or Mining stations either. You have to scrap them and rebuild from scratch.

Oh i see, its probably not urgent to fix it but it would be nice if they add it on the list to do things

It always was this way, people complained often about it, and it did not change… I fear it never will, but who knows?

Tip, just use cheap 1 Lab research stations to clain the bonus from a location.
And add 10-15 Labs at your Home Spaceport.

The home-spaceport is retrofit very fast special at the Game start this give you a fast boost on research.
And the Cheap research stations use less resources and build and it dont hurt when they got destroyed.
