Russian Cav sacking

Post by AKCLIMBER »

I'm on turn 17 playing Soviets v Axis AI on normal playing (1.05.45 beta). I've been able to keep an infantry, mobile unit and cav unit rampaging around Poland and into Germany for quite a while. while the infantry and mobile units have recently been destroyed, the Soviet 6th Cav has managed to sack Koenigsberg, Danzig, Bromberg and Posen and is now on its way to Berlin just for kicks. This is my first game as Soviets - have played a handful of GCs as German - and just wanted to play a first test game to get a feel for the German AI and Soviet way of things, normally, I'd role play a bit and wouldn't send my guys deep into Poland and from there into Germany. That said, having a Soviet cav unit roaming around Germany in 1941 can't be WAD. I notice that Larry has reported the same thing - he was able to garrison Warsaw for a number of turns with a Soviet unit.

Thoughts?

I can provide save game files for any turn...

Thanks, cheers and happy holidays!

Gary has said he has run many tests on Challenging to see that the rear area security works for the German AI. On normal, he cannot guarantee that the routines will function well enough during times when the German AI is in aggressive offensive mode (41).

If you have saves from early on when the units were surrounded and left behind, you can send them to 2by3@2by3games.com or post them here. Ideally at the start of the German turn. We'll take a look, but as he's already looked at this it's possible he will not be able to get the AI to do better without weakening it's abilities in other areas. You may have to either restrict your movement west, or give the AI some much needed help.

Thanks Joel,

I'll try and dig up saved game files and send them your way.

Cheers!
