Newbie question - boat on top of infantry

Post by jonpfl »

All,

What is the purpose of the unit that has a boat on top of infantry?

I realize that any units can cross rivers if they take their time so is this unit better at attacking or defense?

Thx

It's a bridge engineer. If you put the unit on a river hex then all other units can use it as a bridge.

Does that mean they don't have to stop to cross the river?

Thx

The bridge unit still has to move onto the river like a regular unit so you need to be next to the river first. Once the bridge unit is on the river then it will act ike a bridge and other units can cross the river without stopping.
