CS to CVL Conversion Help
I am at an impass trying to upgrade two of my CS types to CVL's. I have done as much research as I can and still no luck. Here is the present situation.
CS types, Chitose and Chiyoda disbanded at Tokyo port.
The date is Jan. 1943, They have been in port since the first week of Nov. 1942.
Conversion listed as YES.
No other ships in dockyard.
Naval support at 940
Supply at 840K.
I have pulled the squadrons off of one ship to see if it made a diffrence, nope.
The other two CS types converted immediatly in other ports when I selected the CVL conversion button.
Does anyone see what I am doing wrong or have any other suggestions?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

RE: CS to CVL Conversion Help
Hmmm do they have both of their airgroups on board ? they convert too.

RE: CS to CVL Conversion Help
I pulled both airgroups off of Chitose and left both air groups on Chiyoda. So far this has made no differance as to when they upgrade.
I left the air groups on Mizuho and Nisshin. When they began conversion their air groups were placed onto their respective bases. When I checked the Jake squadrons to see if the upgrade path had changed, I found nothing outside the normal floatplane options. I also looked on the reinforcment schedules and I can find no new squadrons earmarked for the new CVL's.

What scenario are you playing? What version? Too little data to help. Tokyo (national capital) is where you have to upgrade the Chitose class ....

Always pull those FP off the CS. They REALLY help do ASW in congested areas once trained.

Hi Pax
We are playing scenario 1. The version is V 1.0.4.11o6i, the last official patch. Both Chitose and Chiyoda have been in the Tokyo shipyards for several weeks.

What size is the Tokyo ship yard? Most players expand it. It may be too small to permit conversion if you have not increased its size from default.ORIGINAL: Krigan

Try pulling one out in a TF and leaving the other disbanded there.ORIGINAL: Krigan

Choose convert, you need to choose the toggle on the ship screen to yes.
It should convert during the turn update.
Be sure repair yard is ON.
If it doesn't update, you'll have to have Michael look at it.
The Chitose class has to be done at the national capital because of how it is set up in the editor. Tokyo as it starts the game is big enough. The other CS class have to be done at a larger SY like Kobe or Yokohama.

Hi Chickenboy,
A mouse over of the Tokyo hex, shows a ship yard size of 100 ( Conversion mimimum size for Chitose and Chiyoda is 50) The repair yard is however, only size 10. Grasping for straws, I am up sizing this to 50 but I strongly suspect this will only prove to be a waste of resources.

Not at all. Minimum repair yard size for conversion is 50. Your repair yard is way too small.
Next time remember expand Tokyo's repair yard before conversions. [;)]

RE: CS to CVL Conversion Help
Double check those ships to ensure you didn't load any supplies on them. Ships with anything loaded on them (troops, supplies, resources, fuel, or oil) will prevent upgrades or conversions.

Never done this conversion, but are you guys sure they need to be in Tokyo? I thought that was just a witp thing or is it hard coded still???
RE: CS to CVL Conversion Help
Hello
I think this is a WITP AE "problem"
tm.asp?m=2579217&mpage=1&key=
tm.asp?m=2398842&mpage=1&key=
It seems that you have to expand the yard. I did this in my games for Tokyo and it worked. But I also never tried to this in a another harbour.
Hope it helps....

Thanks Omat -
Must be remnant code ... 40 days, 40000 supply and 300 days of waiting[8|]
Wonder where Cap_and_Gown got too - we lose too many knowledgeable guys here.

Hello n01487477
Your are welcome! [:)]
Yes you are right some nice guys are "gone". Also from the old WitP forum e.g. Mogami.
But at least here are still some helpful members. e.g. Alfred

RE: CS to CVL Conversion Help
I may be completely wrong here, but can these two only be upgraded in Osaka?
Edit: Curse my memory, Tokyo it is. Was it Osaka in WITP?

It's still hard coded, and Tokyo is the only place for Chitose and Chiyoda conversions.
However, Nisshin and Mizuho can be converted anywhere, you just need big enough shipyard.

These two are hard coded to Tokyo. The absence of documentation confirming this has been a hassle since AE was released. Don't remember if it was Osaka in WiTP.ORIGINAL: yubari

RE: CS to CVL Conversion Help
Just keep one around as a CS long enough to resize all your Jake units to 20 each for ASW/Search duties.
