I still visit his website, yet I shamefully have not read Shattered Sword.

There's all sorts of gems to be found at The Battle of Midway Roundtable. This was a link from one of the "weekly" newsletters (there's not 52 per year but there's 25-40 for every year since 2004. Lots of original documents and all sorts of discussions pertaining to many aspects of the battle I'd never heard of even having read "Shattered Sword", "Midway Inquest" and all their predecessors...not restricted to US vets of the battle either though certainly far fewer IJN vets participating.
