Air Cover

Post by mark24 »

I have taken Buna, & have been planning a very strong overland march to take PM. My problem is, I need to cover my transports from the bombers flying out of Moresby. As far as I can see, there is no way to provide "area" air cover. It's either CAP, over the airfield, or LR CAP, over a distant hex. Given my transports are moving, even LR CAP is inadequate.

Am I missing something?

Thanks,

Mark

Under long range CAP, you can designate a target. Designate the task force as the target of the LR CAP.

What does he mean by the phrase "long range CAP, or CAP over the airfield"?

I thought CAP was either used or not used.

Long Range Cap

Post by Gabby »

One of the missions you can assign to fighters is Long Range CAP, which means the fighters fly CAP somewhere otherthan thier base. You have the option of selecting the where the CAP is flown of you can leave the selection to the AI.

LR CAP is not as effective as local CAP, because distance to the targer is factored in, but it is better than no CAP at all.

Hope this helps.
