Any suggestions welcome

there are a lot of AARs with good 1st turns in the north. My approach can best be seen in my AAR vs Belphegor, the canadian chewtoy. Others go for a more direct route to Riga but that means more units escape out of the pocket from routing on T1.

Basically the 1st few turns are the most crucial and you must move fast with the panzers and get your inf marching up in their wake ASAP.

It's hard to say without knowing more about the game. Was this AI or a human? Where are your railheads? What have you lost, what are the Soviet loses?
Many of your corps HQs seem to be out of distance from the divisions.
If you have not done so, you should surely follow Operation Boot Camp in the War Room.

Spread the Russian defenses. There are a lot of other victory point hexes besides Leningrad. If you have trouble taking the city, you can still win by seizing other VP objectives.
