1944-1945 Japan earthquake

Post by hades1001 »

I guess it is not simulated in the game:)

And the earthquakes are reported to cause a disruption and 60% losses of Japanese plane production.

It will be fun to see the earthquake implemented in the game for AFBs :)

Then we'll have to start implementing typhoons for the JFB's. Neither is going to happen, luckily.

Implementing natural disasters is asking for trouble. You basically have two choices:

1. Historical date & effect. Problem: then players will know they are coming and take steps to mitigate or avoid the damage. Result: very ahistorical and gamey result.
2. Random date & effect. Problem: then they become game breakers unless their effect is capped so low they become mere nuisances... at which point it isn't worth the effort to write them into the code.

Yeah best not to go there. Next you will want them to factor in labor strikes in England...[;)]

Or longshoremen refusing to unload ships. What would be the point of having a game with fixed events like this? Would you LIKE the Mutsu to blow up in harbour (because I can probably get a coder to set that probability to 100%)?
