Adding units

Post by TMO »

If I wanted to add an extra unit (say an AA unit) to an existing scenario, i.e. the unit is not part of the original designer's OOB, is there a way to do this without having to rebuild the existing scenario from scratch?

What, are the stock scenarios write protected? Is it a windows attribute that you can disable?

Otherwise duplicate any unit in the SM, drag and drop the estab etc.[&:]

I can't duplicate if the unit doesn't exist in the original scenario designer's OOB. I can see how to access any estab if I recreate the scenario from scratch, but not if I want to add a new type of unit to an existing scenario OOB. Any help appreciated.

OK you can save an existing scenarios as a new file with a new name but you are stuck with the original estab file. you cannot change the estab file within the ScenMaker. This was done to prevent cases where units created in the Scenario file no longer have an estab, because it doesn't appear in the new estab file. Adding some smarts to fix this is something I would like to do once I get a spare moment. But for now it is a limitation.

What you can do as a workaround is to add an estab item for your AA unit to the existing BFTB Estab file. I would strongly recommend you create a backup of the BFTB Estab file and store this away so you can go back to it if need be.
