New "assertion failed" error

We are now 200+ turns into the "Going Again 2" game, and we have again run into the "assertion failed" error when I (as the Spanish player) try to combine turns. We have tried redoing the turn, but no joy. If anyone has any other suggestions, they would be greatly appreciated, as at the moment our only choice seems to be to abandon the game.

Eric, is there any way we could get you to look at the save files to see if the problem can be fixed? I know all the players in our game would greatly appreciate it!

We replayed the previous turn to the assetion failure, and are now ready to try the turn where the failure came up. Hopefully this will resolve it for us, and we'll keep our fingers crossed!

I just started getting this same error tonight. Happens now with any game I save and try to re-open.... I tried opening a saved game in 1792 scenario then started a brand new game in 1796. Saved it, but when I tried to re-open the saved game...same "assertion" error...
