32 bit or 64 bit version???

Command Ops: Battles From The Bulge takes the highly acclaimed Airborne Assault engine back to the West Front for the crucial engagements during the Ardennes Offensive. Test your command skills in the fiery crucible of Airborne Assault’s “pausable continuous time” uber-realistic game engine. It's up to you to develop the strategy, issue the orders, set the pace, and try to win the laurels of victory in the cold, shadowy Ardennes.
Command Ops: Highway to the Reich brings us to the setting of one of the most epic and controversial battles of World War II: Operation Market-Garden, covering every major engagement along Hell’s Highway, from the surprise capture of Joe’s Bridge by the Irish Guards a week before the offensive to the final battles on “The Island” south of Arnhem.

32 bit or 64 bit version???

Post by leftydad »

I have COMMAND OPS: BULGE installed. I downloaded COMMAND OPS: Highway to the Reich. When I tried to install it, I got this message: THE VERISION OF THIS FILE IS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH THE VERSION OF WINDOWS YOU ARE RUNNING. CHECK YOUR COMPUTER'S SYSTEM INFORMATION TO SEE IF YOU NEED 32-BIT OR 64-BIT version of the program, and then contact the software publisher.

I need 64 bit.

What's the deal? Anybody know? I've never got a message like this from a Matrix game before.

That is indeed disturbing cause I was going to buy the expansion soon and have Win 7 64-bit. If it doesn't support that then I definitely won't be able to get it.

Which Windows are you using?

If the base game works fine on Win7 so will HTTR pack...it's just new scenarios...there are no engine changes that BftB didn't get in the patch.

I have Win7 64bit prof..

I'd reinstall both games..

It works on my Win 7 64 bit. Are you sure you got Command Ops: HTTR and not the original HTTR?

Yes, of course it works with Win7 64 bit. It sounds like the installer is corrupt - you may have to download again.

I was thinking the same. Although I might be mistaken, when I bought the original version a long time ago, thought I might have gotten that message, unless I am confusing it with a different Matrix game. Either way, I am on Win 7-64 bit with no issues with the base or expansion game.

It's the expansion HTTR that I bought. I have BULGE. I did a fresh install of BULGE. I've downloaded HTTR Expansion three or four times, always with the same error message. And I use Windows 7.

Like I say, I own practically every Matrix game there is, and this is the only time I've had an error like this.

hhmm....that is too bad and a head scratcher. I do remember seeing it before with one of Matrix's games, but was a long time ago. Not sure if would help, but did you try running in admin mode to see if any difference? Otherwise, hopefully someone from the developer might have an idea for you.

Good that you finally can enjoy this! I run Windows 7 64-bit and have never encountered this with Command Ops. I don't think this game cares if it's on a 32 or 64-bit system but some drivers or underlying apps might. I did encounter other problems when I just upgraded from Vista on 1 machine instead of doing a clean install. It seems to leave some baggage that creates some head-scratchingly mysterious problems in the long run, but a clean install took care of that. Could it be even an older activex or visual something or other? [&:]

I have yet to see ANY game (and I have over 30 Matrix games and over 40 Steam games plus some from Gamersgate and other sites) that does not work with Win 7 64 bits.

Yes it should work with Win 8. While we don't guarantee Win 8 we have had testers install and run it on WIn 8 with no problems.
