Computer vs computer -- way to slow down?

Post by Doctor Zaius »

I'm trying to use the computer vs computer play mode (RTM - Crossing the Border) as a tool to better understand this game. Unfortunately the speed at which the game progresses on my system (i7 2.67GHz; not blazing by any stretch) is just too fast to learn by. I can barely follow the movement, let alone combat.

Is there a way to slow this down? Or, equivalently, is there a log that dumps MOVEMENT as well as attack info by turn, in order that it happens on the screen?

I swear there is something VERY different in the computer vs computer play - units seem to RBC much more willingly as opposed to when I play vs PO. I'd really like to figure this out.

Is there anything I can do?

Hello
No, I am not aware of a way to slow the game play down- (make sure you do not have Cap Lock on- it will make it really run fast- good for checking po-po).
You can double left click the mouse during a movement phase, and select Neither Force to freeze the action. You can then do "Computer play German" to see the computer combat reports to get an idea of Elmer's attack plans.
cheers

a) regardong the RBC - tweak the Attrition Divider and the Maximum Rounds Per Battle
b) to slow down the CPU - http://www.cpukiller.com/ or http://www.softpedia.com/progDownload/C ... 43562.html

@Rob: the AD = 14 and MRPB to 3 or 4 will work wonders.Remember the 'ignore losses' thread? Those two values really make a difference. *see the report I sent you about RTM - Crossings*

Be sure that the Opart 3.ini parameter "nodelay" is set to "N". And be sure there is no command line equivalent in your shortcut.

Doctor Zaius,

The PO cheats. RBCs are easier for the PO and PO controlled formations are less likely to go into reorganization. I think it gets a recon cheat as well. This is not a 3.4 thing. It has always been the case. Ultimately, the only thing you can do is accept it or play PBEM.

Best wishes,
Steve
