Tanks in the city

Command Ops: Battles From The Bulge takes the highly acclaimed Airborne Assault engine back to the West Front for the crucial engagements during the Ardennes Offensive. Test your command skills in the fiery crucible of Airborne Assault’s “pausable continuous time” uber-realistic game engine. It's up to you to develop the strategy, issue the orders, set the pace, and try to win the laurels of victory in the cold, shadowy Ardennes.
Command Ops: Highway to the Reich brings us to the setting of one of the most epic and controversial battles of World War II: Operation Market-Garden, covering every major engagement along Hell’s Highway, from the surprise capture of Joe’s Bridge by the Irish Guards a week before the offensive to the final battles on “The Island” south of Arnhem.

Tanks in the city

Post by MrLongleg »

First of all I really love this game. Got it over the weekend and finally won the tutorial mission by taking St. Vith on D2 by moving a tank battalion over the road that enters St. Vith from the East. The Germans were taken by surprise. So the tank battalion moved to the center and was greeted only by 2 German infantry companies and one two infantry HQ's.

What kind of penalty do tanks get in Urban terrain except that infantry can shoot on them from close range? I was able to drive one of the two German Inf companies out of the city and was able to hold the objective until the end. Since I served as a tanker too I am not so sure if I'd be so comfortable with tanks only in a town against infantry in the night.

Another armored battallion then attacked the significant German reinforcements from the West in the flank and they were showered with artillery strikes, so that they never were able to rellay effectively attack.
